THE SCULPTED HOUSE

Pokrovsky Rubtsovo, Moscow Region, Russia
2021

The house is conceived as a sculptural architectural composition placed within a natural landscape. Rather than appearing as a conventional residential structure, the building is formed through a series of carefully articulated volumes that create a strong architectural presence while maintaining a sense of calm and restraint.

The composition is defined by clear geometric forms and a balanced interplay of solid and transparent surfaces. A large framed opening and expansive glass façades allow natural light to enter deep into the interior while establishing strong visual connections with the surrounding landscape.

The architecture is organized as a sequence of interconnected spaces that unfold horizontally across the site. This arrangement allows the house to remain low and grounded while creating a dynamic spatial structure defined by terraces, gardens, and interior living areas.

Inside, the architectural language continues through minimal forms, natural materials, and controlled proportions. Large windows, open living spaces, and carefully placed light sources reinforce the clarity of the spatial composition.

The project explores architecture as sculptural form — a house where geometry, light, and space come together to create a calm and contemporary residential environment.

VIDEO VISUALIZATION OF THE EXTERIOR

The concept of the house includes the use of natural materials and energy-efficient technologies. The use of natural wood and glass not only ensures aesthetic unity with nature but also minimizes the impact on the environment. The large windows promote natural lighting and ventilation, reducing the need for artificial life-support systems.

This house is a space where nature and architecture exist in symbiosis. It symbolizes a retreat from the rush of life and a desire to return to the roots, to the natural harmony offered by the surrounding world. The simple yet elegant design reflects the aspiration for minimalism and contemplation, where every detail serves as a reminder of the importance of balance between man and nature.

POKROVSKOE RUBTSOVO

Pokrovskoe Rubtsovo is a residential settlement located on the banks of the Mala Istra River, approximately 38 kilometers west of Moscow along the Novorizhskoye Highway. The territory lies within the landscape of a historic eighteenth-century estate, surrounded by parkland, mature trees, and a system of artificial ponds.

The spatial character of the area is defined by open park landscapes and gently varied terrain. Houses are positioned within large plots among historic greenery, allowing architecture to coexist with the natural landscape while framing views of the river, park, and surrounding countryside
