ARCHETYPE
Seating Structure
Edition of 8 + 2 Artist Proofs
AD1369105 - 2021
ARCHETYPE reduces seating to a primary geometric construct. Four angular steel planes converge into a compact structural volume elevated on spherical supports. The object is defined by intersection and compression - a minimal assembly where stability is achieved through calculated balance.
The rigid steel body establishes density and containment, while the textile surface introduces a contrasting tactile layer. Softness is not decorative; it operates as a counter-material, interrupting the severity of the structure without dissolving it. Hard edge and textile mass coexist within a controlled equilibrium.
ARCHETYPE investigates the primitive condition of support. It strips the seat to its elemental logic -base, enclosure, surface - and stabilizes opposition within a compact form. The object stands as a reduced structural archetype: mass articulated through geometry, tension resolved through balance.
