STASIS

Object for Flame

Edition of 8 + 2 Artist Proofs

AD1369105 - 2024

STASIS translates the volatile geometry of flame into steel. Cut silhouettes rise in the language of combustion yet remain permanently fixed. A gesture associated with instability is formalized; movement becomes structure.

A concealed light source activates the internal void, projecting shifting shadow through rigid planes. The object does not represent fire - it stabilizes it. Energy is present, but contained. Intensity is held within a controlled perimeter.

Steel and marble establish mass and permanence, while illumination introduces a counterforce from within. STASIS examines the threshold at which motion is suspended without disappearance - a state of arrested force, stabilized but unresolved.
