STASIS
Object for Flame
Edition of 8 + 2 Artist Proofs
AD1369105 - 2024
STASIS translates the volatile geometry of flame into steel. Cut silhouettes rise in the language of combustion yet remain permanently fixed. A gesture associated with instability is formalized; movement becomes structure.
A concealed light source activates the internal void, projecting shifting shadow through rigid planes. The object does not represent fire it stabilizes it. Energy is present, but contained. Intensity is held within a controlled perimeter.
Steel and marble establish mass and permanence, while illumination introduces a counterforce from within. STASIS examines the threshold at which motion is suspended without disappearance a state of arrested force, stabilized but unresolved.
